litigation & dispute resolution

taking centre stage
If you're looking for excitement, enjoy the cut and thrust of the courtroom and rise to the challenge of working on high profile cases, I can thoroughly recommend litigation and dispute resolution.

I'd been told by many people that a seat here gives you plenty of opportunity for autonomy and for the adversarial side of your personality to be fully tested and they weren't wrong! During my first few weeks, I was involved in a claim worth well in excess of 7 figures with a market leading household name [I can't say who it is - but you'd know them]. I was responsible for a fundamental part of the proceedings which proved to be quite an adventure as there were significant international issues, which I worked on alongside lawyers in other jurisdictions.

Shortly afterwards, I was involved in another major action which this time threatened to create a new common law precedent. The hearing ran well into two weeks at the High Court in London during which time I had to stay in a posh London hotel and eat and drink large amounts - all in the name of "client care"!

These were the highlights but even the day to day work was interesting and challenging. You can never predict what kind of matter each new client will present you with and if you enjoy being kept on your toes, litigation will definitely be for you!
