real estate
building the basics
Talk about hitting the ground running! I knew that I’d be busy when I joined this, the largest department in the firm, but I had no idea of the size and scale of our client list. We represent a variety of clients, ranging from home owners to investment companies with extensive portfolios. What’s more, there’s loads of client contact, which I enjoy.
There's no such thing as a typical day, but if there were one, it would consist of helping a first time buyer to take their
first faltering steps on the property ladder in the morning, before going on to a
meeting with an investment company to discuss the acquisition or disposal of millions
of pounds worth of real estate.
Some transactions are straightforward whilst others
are immensely complicated so my time in this seat has helped me to develop skills
that will prove invaluable in any area in which I eventually choose to practice. These include drafting, client interviewing, research and communication skills.
So what do I like best about real estate? I love the sense of being given responsibility and autonomy
and having my own files from day one. Having said that, I also love having the
reassurance of knowing that I've got loads of support and a partner who is there
when I need them!
