I was educated at Sir Thomas Boughey High School and left in 1996 to begin a modern apprenticeship in Electronics Engineering and Microchip Processing at Stoke-on-Trent College. My placement during that time provided me with an opportunity to build maintain and implement both stand alone and networked systems. After graduating with an additional Advanced Diploma as an Electrical Engineer I was offered a full time position with the same company and remained with them for four years before joining Knights in 1999 as an IT assistant.
Since joining the firm I have acquired new skills in relation to server management, software and applications specifically aimed at the legal profession, as well as the day to day running of a large network, not to mentioned helpdesk calls! I have been involved in a number of projects, our most recent one being the implementation of a matter management system designed in-house to ensure compliance and document management. The IT structure has grown massively during my time here, keeping abreast with technology and providing access to IT for our ever growing firm, both clients and staff! IT at Knights consists of over 170 computers and several servers. Since joining I have been involved with everything we have installed, from digital dictation, to disaster recovery servers. The firm is always looking for ways to embrace new technology and I am always on hand to deliver (and explain in layman’s terms where needed!)
I play an active role within the firm in fund raising for our chosen charity each year – in particular I am the quiz master and compere for our annual quiz evening!
I live with my wife Jess and we have two adorable cats Bo (short for Bodicea although thankfully she has never exhibited any of the namesake’s personality traits!) and Tigger. When I am not attempting my latest DIY project at home, I can be found walking, or struggling with an exercise regime in the gym. I love playing football and at the moment play for the office team and in a minor 7-a-side league. I am an enthusiastic member of Arsenal Football Supporters Club and try to attend games whenever possible. In addition, I am a fair weather golfer and have turned out to play for the office with clients in the past.
