David Miller : Knights
Back in the now distant days before I even considered becoming a solicitor, I attended Leeds University and threw myself into a degree in international history and politics which, (and I am sure this says a lot about me), I enjoyed immensely.

The law beckoned however and, putting history firmly behind me, I then moved on to complete my CPE and LPC at Staffordshire University taking up a training contract with Knights in September 2000.

After two years of training, I was fortunate when the firm found a space for me in the Corporate & Commercial Department where I have worked ever since. At the outset, my workload consisted of a fascinating mix of both corporate and commercial work but over the last few years, I have increasingly focused on advising on IT related issues both for technology companies and major clients of the firm.

I combined my interest in technology, corporate finance and the internet as a medium for marketing by taking the firm's "deals register" online in 2006 and am now responsible for running the website (www.dealsregister.co.uk) and the network of contacts that we have built up around it.

In an attempt to keep up with what’s going on in the outside world, I am a member of Connect (an organisation aimed at helping innovative companies raise finance) and the United Kingdom Information Technology Association.

Outside work, I devote some of my time to Staffordshire University's Mentorvista programme which is an opportunity for students to draw on experience from local professionals and business leaders. I am a member of Amnesty International.

In a vain attempt to relax, I enjoy thrashing away at my badly abused guitar, attempting to play football, damaging my hearing at gigs and staring at my, as yet uncompleted, novel.
