Melissa Cox : Knights
I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, a city often referred to as "the heart of America". Having always been an anglophile, I moved to England aged 18 (on what was meant to be a temporary basis) to complete a 6 month exchange programme at the University of Nottingham. After 6 months I decided to transfer my degree to the University of Nottingham and to remain in England until the end of my studies. I graduated in 2002 with a degree in sociology. I then attended The College of Law in Chester to obtain my Graduate Diploma in Law and complete the Legal Practice Course.

I have worked at Knights since I began my training contract in September 2004. I qualified as a solicitor in the Real Estate Department in September 2006.

My areas of concentration in the Real Estate Department are mainly commercial landlord and tenant matters, and commercial acquisitions and disposals.

I was lucky enough to travel solo through central, southern and eastern Africa (which encouraged my passion for post-colonial African history) for four months following qualification.

In my spare time I enjoy attending the theatre, visiting art galleries and watching independent films. When I have the opportunity, I enjoy taking trips around North America with my father - in the past this has included trekking in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. When visiting my parents in Kansas City, I try to take the opportunity to visit the local Mexican restaurant as often as possible in a seven day period! Although I enjoy the odd city break to European destinations, I love visiting long-haul destinations in Asia and Africa and try to visit either one of these destinations once a year.
